Accounts can be so confusing, but understanding them and where the money comes from is super important to ensure that you make smart decisions and avoid huge debts and spending money that you don't have. It is important to understand the crucial differences between these accounts.
Checking Accounts
Checking accounts are those that you can access immediately to manage daily spending or take out cash anytime, with unlimited withdrawals and transactions. Debit cards are linked to your checking account and let you spend only the money you already have in that account. Credit cards, on the other hand, let you borrow money from the bank to make purchases, which you must pay back later.

A good tip to avoid debt is to never use money on your credit card that you don’t have in your checking account. It takes some discipline, but it helps you avoid debt and keeps your credit score healthy.
Savings Accounts
Savings accounts are those you don’t touch and keep all the money that you save. By putting money in little by little, you can grow your savings account, build interest, and make sure that you have a reserve for when you need it. This can serve as your emergency fund and a safety net.
Having both a checking and a savings account helps you handle your money better. You can use your checking account for everyday spending and bills, while your savings account keeps money safe and helps it grow. Keeping them separate makes it easier not to overspend and ensures you have money for emergencies or your goals.
As a teen, you can open your own savings account with the help of a guardian or parent to start saving your money. If you are interested, view the bank of your choice and its requirements, and I encourage you to start saving little by little, and future you will thank me!
